25-March-2021 – The lessons of the week (ceachtanna na seachtaine) have to do with the beach or ‘the strand’ (an trá) pronounced “ahn traw”.
You may think of the beach (trá) when is is full of people crowded (plódaithe) or packed with people (dubh le daoine). Or you might think of the beach (trá) when it is sunrise (éirí na gréine) or sunset (luí na gréine). This week I have experienced the beach in early spring (tús an earraigh) and it is lonely (uaigneach) and cold (fuar) and windy (gaofar).
If someone is left destitute in Irish they are fágtha ar an trá fholamh (left on the empty beach).
